Nothing wrong!: Urine that smells isn't as worrisome as bloody or painful urine, both of which suggest possible infection in young women. Smelly urine, in isolation, can be due to dehydration or perhaps eating something like asparagus, which gives urine a particularly pungent odor in those with the right set of genes.

Possible infection: Urinary tract infections can cause the urine to be foul-smelling. In females, vaginal infections can cause a fishy odor which might be mistaken as emanating from the urine. Other signs of a urinary tract infection including urinary frequency and burning.
