Do you always need an inhaler on you if you have asthma?

Best medicine: To get the fastest and most effective treatment for asthma, inhalers are the preferred medications for it. There are other types of medications that are not inhalers but they are not appropriate for everyone and may still require a rescue inhaler to have on hand in case of an emergency.

Not always: It depends on the severity of asthma.Even though all asthmatics need inhaled medicine either by hand held inhaler or via nebulisers when you are having an acute attack. If you have severe persistant asthma you have to inhalers daily to control asthma and keep it under control. But if you have mild intermittent asthma than you only need inhaled meds when you are hahing attack.
