My granny is 70-75 years old and was diagonised with acute leukemia. can you suggest the best treatment for her?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Difficult.: The ability to tolerate aggressive chemotherapy declines with age. Patients under 60 can tolerate aggressive chemo and expect good results, but between 60-70 results are worse, and over 70 much worse unless there is an unusual type of dna damage to predicts good response. Less aggressive approaches are possible with older AML patients who have lower "blast counts" in marrow. There is no "best.".
