It depends: If your pain is moderate to severe, rest is best. However for mild pain, some types of exercises are appropriate. In this case i would stick with stretching and low impact aerobic exercise. Tai chi and some types of yoga are generally safe. With any exercise if you feel the pain increasing stop and rest.
