A member asked:

Is there any type of amnesia that lasts longer than a year?

Head trauma: Persistent neurological deficit could be caused by a structural lesion such as brain damage or stroke. There is no way a forum like this can sort this out. Talk to your gp. He/she will take a full history, do an exam, order appropriate tests and refer you to a specialist if needed.

Yes, many causes: Head trauma, especially concussion, but including true brain injuries in addition, strokes associated with thrombo-embolism to brainstem, coma from any causes, poisons toxins, drug reactions and od's, transient global amnesia, and all result in losses of chunks of time which never return.
