Heavy Rx: Nothing you can do on your own will control your acne. If you characterize your outbreaks as horrible, then a dermatology consult is in order; probably you will be rx'd with accutane, which is unpleasant, somewhat dangerous, extremely effective, and in my opinion well worth it. Good luck.

Spironolactone: Adult women with acne usually need antiandrogen therapy to suppress it. It is important to consider any meds including any birth control or hormone. Do you have normal menst periods? If spironolactone fails after 4 months, Isotretinoin (formerly accutane) will rescue you.
