Yes: It is completely normal and typical to be walking normally with a torn acl. The acl functions in keeping the knee from rotation and shifting. Walking and straight ahead running do not involve stressing the knee enough for the acl to become necessary for stability. Planting and cutting on the affected knee would be less likely after tearing an acl.
