Non specific finding: Periventricular white matter is commonly seen in the brain, and changes in this matter are common as people age. Studies show that more than a third of people over age 65 show some periventricular white matter changes and has significant association between severity of white matter changes and age. The finding by itself is non specific and may relate to small vessel ischemic disease.
