A member asked:

Can i use a steroid nappy cream on my son who has citrullinemia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on the cream: Hydrocortisone over-the-counter cream is ok for use in the diaper area for a few days, if advised to do so by the doctor. Doctors generally want to see the rash before allowing parents to use steroid creams in the diaper area, especially if the steroid is stronger than hydrocortisone. The citrullinemia leads to problems of ammonia accumulation, but is not affected by the use of steroid creams.
