Possibly migraines: Could be migraines as well. If everything normal on eye exam, would get evaluated by pcp.

Maybe: There are too many things that can cause blurry vision. If you optometrist was unable to answer your questions, seek an ophthalmologist for a thorough exam.

Maybe not so simple: Most likely, you had episode of classical migraine with a visual aura, but with your history, would suggest to be on safe side, check heart status, get carotid duplex study re blood flow, and work with your md or do physician.
