Abdominal pain: How was the diagnosis confirmed? Blood tests, scan, or only on physical exam? This disease is most often caused by some infectious process, but can mimic such other problems as acute appendicitis. There are other things that cause acute abdominal pain, as well. Most importantly, be sure appendicitis has been excluded. If not, see a surgeon or go to er immediately.

Do not worry: It is a self limiting disease, he will be fine , once appendicitis is ruled out as the cause of his pain.
