I'm on the mirena (levonorgestrel) and have bleeding like i've never had before along with sharp abdominal pain. are these normal side effects?

Sometimes: Some women do have heavy bleeding after receiving the Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud. Pain is also common if you have never had a child before. However, if it has been some time since you received your iud, you should make an appointment to be evaluated.
