Has protocal: Hospital will have a protocols, for such situations, attempts will be made to reach family members by phone first, if it fails two other physicians will attest , that it is an emergency , will be documented in the chart, then surgery will be performed with minimum delay.

Physician consent: In an emergency licensing situation tif wo physicians agree that surgery is necessary and potentially life saving then they can give consent so you still would have gotten surgery you needed. Glad you are ok.
