I have never gotten strep throat but my boyfriend and my whole house does. why is that?

Luck ??: We're not sure why but some people can actually acquire the strep germ & carry it in their nose & throat but never become symptomatic wit the illness. It may be that they developed blocking antibodies in earlier life, or they may just never get it. Probably 5% of the population will be found to be asymptomatic carriers.
