Conjunctival cyst: It sounds like a conjunctival inclusion cyst, which can get larger and more irritating. Sometimes they are excised for this reason. Mostly they are asymptomatic and may be left alone and observed. Poking it with a needle is not advisable an pd also not likely to eliminate it anyway.

Conjunctival cyst: Depending on the size. A small conjunctival cyst can be removed by incising with a small needle and is painless. A larger one may need to be incised and the entire cyst sack be removed. This takes a little longer, but with the right drops and possibly a small injection of Lidocaine is painless also. Both can be performed under topical drops without pain. I have performed this 100's of times.
