Before: Ovulation causes changes to the uterine lining preparing it for pregnancy. If conception does not occur, the change in hormonal levels (dropping) causes menses (the lining is shed) to occur and the menstrual cycle to begin again. Women who do not ovulate, often do not menstruate.
