Do it!: Firstly, no one needs braces. It is an elective therapy; that said, it is a wonderful gift to yourself that will add quality to your life and health. For the cost of a not so great used car that will be in a scrap yard in a few years, you will enjoy a lifetime of cosmetic and functional benefit. See a specialist if at all possible, i believe it is money better spent.

Consult Orthodontist: Crooked teeth can contribute to a number of potential problems including difficulty in chewing, periodontal problems, decay, as well as bite problems which may be a precursor to other more significant problems. An orthodontic evaluation would be recommended to determine what type of problems you are facing, and what type, if any treatment may be recommended.

Ask for referral: Ask your family dentist to refer you to the best qualified orthodontic specialist that he knows. Initial orthodontic examination usually free or very low cost. Get all the information that you can, then go for it. You'll be so glad you did.

See your dentist: Many general dentists perform a significant number of orthodontic cases. If your situation is too difficult, or if your dentist is not comfortable performing orthodontic treatment, then have them refer you to an orthodontist. Note: a well trained general dentist could effectively treat 80% of all tooth movement conditions in their dental practice. www.fastbraces.com for a dentist near you.
