A member asked:

What are my chances of getting joint pains and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis if it runs in the family?

Minimally higher: While patients with adult RA fairly commonly have someone else in the family with RA or lupus, most cases of juvenile inflammatoy arthritis occur spontaneously. The exception may be juvenile spondylitis, where the genetic marker (hla b 27) often runs in families.
