For example, someone who decides to complete general studies in physical therapy and obtain a master's degree and then become licensed will need fewer years of educational training than someone who decides to get their license after a doctorate degree.

Depends on the state: In most states you need a bachelors degree to get admitted into pt school. It is then three years of pt school. Athletic trainer has a bachelors degree and then two additional years.
