Hernia recovery: Inguinal hernia surgery recovery is dependent on the type of repair that is performed and individual patient healing. Typically after posterior mesh placement - laparoscopic or open - most patients can resume exercise and sports within 2 weeks. After anterior inguinal hernia surgery - with mesh or without, sometimes it may take 4-6 weeks to get back to sports such as hockey or soccer.
