Lipoma: Lipomas of the skin usually require a simple excision to cure them, often done in the doctors office. Lipomas usually do not affect the health unless they are causing pressure on some vital structures. Lipomas in other organs require examination by your doctor to determine the answers to your question.

Minor Surgery: Lipomas are benign growths of fatty tissue, usually found just under the skin. They can grow anywhere on the body. Unless they get so large they push on some vital structure, they generally cause no serious problems. They are treated by excision, which can be done in the office or operating room depending in the size & location of the tumor, as well as the your surgeons preference. Best wishes!

Surgery is indicated: A lipoma is a benign fatty tissue tumor that can be easily removed if symptomatic or if there is any concern that it may be a different type of tumor.

Remove it.: The only way to get read of a lipoma is to remove it surgically. Some times it can be removed by liposuction. When lipomas are very large there is a small chance that they could be a liposarcoma which is a cancer. Therefore a biopsy is necessary.

Excision/Liposuction: Lipomas are usually treated with excision. Large lipomas or lipomas in areas where a scar is to be avoided can be treated with liposuction, although recurrence is increased.

Maybe skin depressed: Agree with the other docs. Generally removed with surgery, if getting it removed. Liposuction can have recurrence more commonly. Removal of a large lipoma can leave a depression where it once was.

Lipo or excision: Lipomas are benign growths of fatty tissue. These can sometimes be suctioned through a small incision or excised through a larger incision.
