5-1-1 or 5-1-2: In general, contractions will come and go and may not be labor. Only when they are regular, every 4-5 min apart or sooner, and when that lasts more than 1-2 hours is it usually labor. If your bag of water breaks, call your doctor and plan to head to hospital. "the rule: 5 min apart, lasting 1 minute, continuing for more than 1-2 hours." always make sure your baby is moving well.

Pending delivery: Signs that labor is approaching include dilation of the cervix. Loss of the cervical mucus plug is another sign. Some dilation and loss ov the mucus plug can occur weeks before the baby actually comes. Many women develop an increase in energy level. Once your water breaks it is important to tell your physician. Contractions may last half a minute to a minute and a half.
