Yes you can,however: Yes, you can have an IUD inserted immediately, however, there is a very high risk of infection and expulsion as the uterus involutes(shrinks) and returns to normal size. Since intercourse is "off limits" for at least 2 to 4 weeks thereafter, wait, if you can, to have it inserted at the time of the normal post partum checkup.
