First: Try a different brand of toothpaste. Often people have problems with some of the ingredients or flavor agents used in toothpaste. Or problem with type: whitening, tartar control, fresh breath, etc. Some people have a problem with the foaming agent: sodium lauryl sulfate, fluoridex without sls works well. You could try plain baking soda (if you are not on a sodium restricted diet). Good luck.
