See your doctor: Chest pains can be caused by a large variety of things, including blocked arteries to the heart. When you see a health care provider he or she will listen to your symptoms, listen to your heart and lungs and decide which tests need to be done next. Chest x-ray and ekg are typical starting points. If there is concern of a blocked artery, sometimes a treadmill test will be done.
