Oral hygiene: First, your orthodontist should have reviewed all of this with you when you got your braces. But most important is oral hygiene. After that, make sure you do not eat the wrong foods that may break or damage the braces and set you back in treatment time.

Brush and flossbrush: The best thing you can do is brush after every meal or snack with Fluoride toothpaste, floss at least once a day, and remove any food that may have gotten stuck in your braces after each meal. Also, avoid hard or sticky foods that can damage your braces and wires.

Brush brush: Great oral hygiene and staying away from foods you shouldn't eat. It's really that simple ( or complicated).

Instructions: There are many recommendations that should be explained with verbal and perhaps written instructions from your orthodontist. Over-the-counter analgesics, wax on anything sharp, warm salt water rinses, softer diet, avoid hard and sticky food, don't pick at them, and follow all prescribed directions and make all of your appointments.

Follow directions : If you're seeing an orthodontic specialist i'm sure he advised: 1. Most important: keep everything spotlessly clean and healthy 2. Watch your diet: nothing hard, sticky, chewy 3. Wear orthodontic mouthguard for contact sports 4. Regular check-ups wit your general dentist 5. Wear elastics, head-gear, bite planes, etc exactly as directed treat all instructions as mandatory, not as guidelines.
