Strips & custom tray: Most any brand of over the counter whitening strips are very good. Don't waste your money on whitening toothpaste or whitening mouthwash...They simply don't work and are a marketing gimmick. The only way to whiten teeth is to hold the whitening gel on the teeth for long periods of time such as in strips or custom trays that the dentist can make for you.

Depends : Are all of your teeth dis colored (darker) and you want to whiten them? If that is what you want, you could try crest whitestrips first. I have found they work reasonably well for younger people with slight darkening. If your teeth are very dark or the discoloration is due to factors such as tetracycline, you will need to see a dentist for evaluation and treatment.

Teeth bleaching: Teeth whitening probably is the most economical way te treat teeth discoloration. If it does not work, you may want to consider cosmetic bonding, which is less expensive than other options like porcelain veneers.

Genetic or aquired ?: Are your teeth discolored because you were born that way, or is the discoloration acquired, from tobacco use or coffee? Professional whitening can only do so much for naturally discolored teeth, but it is worth a try since it is the least expensive option. Speak to your dentist about what is best for you.
