For Sure: After this type of surgery any of the commonly used narcotic based medications can be used. This would similar to using pain medication after any type of significant broken bone. Keep in mind that pain would get better over time after surgery. His most uncomfortable 12 hours will be the first 12 hours, the most painful day the first day, the most painful week, the first week afterwards.
