Common: Most birth control methods contain estrogen. Breast tenderness can be caused by estrogen. This is a common complaint in the first couple of months. It resolves for most people after the first couple of cycles.

It's not rare: Breast soreness is not a rare side effect in the first month after starting the pill. It's best to wear a well-fitting bra, and to use Ibuprofen for the soreness if needed, it almost always goes away by the 2nd or 3rd month.
