Depends: It depends upon the cause. If the cause is something like a pizza burn then it will just take a week or two to heal. If the sore does not go away within two weeks, i would suggest seeing an oral surgeon or ENT physician for an evaluation.

Anti-inflammatory: Take Aspirin or Ibuprofen as needed. If it does not go away within 2 weeks, see your dentist.

Kanka: It is over the counter and when applied to the sore, it coats and numbs. It can be used as often as you like. See your dr. If it doesn't go away in 2 wks.
