Best to get seen: Causes could vary according to his age, onset, timing, during, with or without pain/redness, one eye or both, medications, to name some. Any change in vision especially when abrupt is best evaluated at the ophthalmologist's office quickly.

Random heart rate spikes whilst doing nothing, happens whilst laying down or driving. Body sometimes go into a hypertensive state, if I can call it that. Blurry vision, light headed, nauseous, dizzy. All this happens when the heart rate goes up.
