Yes : Unfortunately, sometimes space is needed to move teeth to proper position. If space is not available then extractions are an option. Extraction prior to orthodontic treatment is common.

If recommended: It is very common to require tooth extraction as part of the treatment plan in order to achieve the best tooth alignment with orthodontic treatment. Each case is different and needs to be evaluation on its own specific circumstances.
