Yes, but...: Yes, and if you are overweight and there is no evidence of hypertension, Insulin resistance (high blood sugar), lipid (cholesterol and triglyceride) abnormality, breathing abnormality or joint complications then perhaps the extra weight is not so bad. However, obesity breeds problems, so it merits close monitoring.
