Yes and yes, but...: ... It may mean so much more. What circumstances/activity cause symptoms? Does it awaken you from sleep? Is bleeding or change in bowel pattern also present? What are your risk factors and exposures? Any anal trauma (enemas, intercourse, manual or instrumental insertion)? Responses to these questions will alter the answer(and the reassurance) you seek.

Not usually painful: Ibs is not usually painful. But people with ibs are often stressed, and stress could cause vague anal/rectal pain. Consider meditation or other stress relievers.
