See it, hear it: Often a patient will see it in the toilet or hear it hit the porcelain. You also might feel a sense of relief after it passes out of the ureter. But you never know if you passed a fragment or the whole thing. Ct scan or xray (kub) is the best way to know a stone has passed. Hopefully it passes easily!
