Persistent cough: You were given an antibiotic because you had yellow or green sputum which mean a bacterial infection and it cleared after the antibiotic. The cough will last as long as the viral irritation and inflammation is around. Avoid cough suppressants, hydrate and keep warm. It usually passes within 3-5 days.
