A member asked:

I am a smoker and only have one healthy kidney. the other one is very tiny. can this affect the function of my kidneys?

Smoking can hurt you: Smoking increases the risk of high blood pressure - which can damage the good kidney you have. Did you know that the second leading cause of kidney failure requiring dialysis is high blood pressure (after diabetes)? There are many other risks attached to smoking - like heart disease, stroke, lung cancer, bladder cancer, and on. But you can turn this all around! read alan carr's book; talk to doc!
