what causes a person in their early 40's to get shakes and or small tremors for no apparent reason?

Tremors and shakes: Their are many possibilities. Best thing to do is make an appointment with your doctor for an examination to find the cause. Be sure you are living a healthy life style without drugs or alcohol that could be causing you a problem.
Dr. Prem Gupta
neurology 48 years experience
Essential tremor: Assuming alcohol and certain medications are not involved, the essential tremors are most common. If tremors occur in resting arm and subside with use of shaky hand then parkinson's disease is more likely.
Dr. Timothy Silver
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation 24 years experience
I bit young for either of these types of tremors, would see doctor for a work up. Blood glucose levels, thyroid hormone levels and cortisol out of balance can add to the perception of tremor. Again would be mindful of medications including caffeine or sport /power drinks additives (ephadra, guarana)

Hormone changes: The hormones of pregnancy relax smooth muscles like those at the urethra, the opening of the bladder. Decreasing caffeine may help. Doing kegel exercises which strengthen the muscle will help both during pregnancy and to avoid problems afterwards.

Our first daughter was born 8 weeks premature 7 years ago. What are the chances of having another premature birth?

Elevated risk: Women who have preterm deliveries are more likely than other women to have preterm labor again. You should discuss the use of 17 hydroxy Progesterone injections with your doctor as a preventative measure. You may want to ask how they manage prenatal care in women with a history of preterm birth to make sure you understand and agree with the plan.

Depends: It depends mostly on how premature they were. Babies who were born around 24 weeks have the highest risks of infections, eye problems, breathing problems, developmental problems. Each week that the baby spends inside the mom, decreases the amount of time they spend in the intensive care unit and the problems they face later.

Is light cramping normal in early pregnancy?

2 doctor answers3 doctors weighed in
Dr. Neeoo Chin
Fertility Medicine 40 years experience
Yes: Light cramping early in pregnancy can be related to the cyst on the ovary that ovulated producing the hormone Progesterone which is supporting the pregnancy. The cramping is usually transient minimal in nature. Any pain that last for a longer period of time or is also accompanied with bleeding should be communicated to your doctor.
