Xerosis or Reynaud's: The cold weather and low humidity removes the moisture barrier from the skin, causing substances to penetrate and cause irritation. Cold weather also may cause vasospsm in the fingers, reducing blood flow, which may result in the same dysfunction. Use moisturizers and gloves, and see your doctor for a complete evaluation.
