Bruise, tear, Fx: The full spectrum from simple bruise (contusion), ligament/cartilage/meniscal tear, or even a rare fracture (fx) can occur from being kicked in the knee. Your symptoms and exam findings will significantly help render and exact diagnosis. Xrays should confirm the presence or absence of fracture, and an MRI will provide supportive details to your physician's exam regarding injuries within the knee.

Many possibilities: Trauma may cause injury to any of the structures around the site of trauma. Damage can occur to the arteries, veins, nerves, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, meniscus, or bones. Have it evaluated by a professional to determine the extent of the damage.
