How long will i be without teeth after having my teeth removed for dentures?

That depends on.....: If you and your dentist prepare in advance, new teeth can be inserted at the time you have your teeth removed. You might still require adjustments, relines or another set, but at least you won't be without teeth for any period of time. If you don't prepare for it, it may take from a week to a couple of months before you have your new dentures. Discuss your options with your dentists.

Minutes: You can have immediate dentures. They are placed at the time of the surgery. See a prosthodontist for an evaluation. In 32 years of practice I do this almost 100% of the time when patients are getting dentures. As your tissues shrink, we add soft liners to keep the fit. After about 6 months a hard lab reline is done. Important to see the specialist for this to be the most accurate and easiest.

0-8 weeks: Immediate dentures can be placed as soon as the teeth are removed in certain cases. In other cases, no dentures can be worn until the gums are healed which is usually 6-8 weeks. In some cases temporary dentures are made to be worn immediately after the teeth are removed and then final dentures are made after the gums are healed.
