Sinus backup: A sinus infection causes fluids to drain into the nasal cavity leaving a foul odor. The tongue is part of the mouth where fluids can drain so it to can pick up bacteria and turn white.Treat the infection with antibiotics and you should be fine.

Thrush: Some times a white tongue can signify
'thrush' or candidiasis especially after taking a round of antibiotics. Contact your doctor again...You may need antibiotics to treat sinus infection and they can check your tongue and treat with antifungal medications if necessary.
