Painful purple lump: Painful purple lump near anus. If you can't see it, have someone look. The only treatment if thrombosed (clotted) is to 'incise and drain'. Get your md to fix it in minutes. Avoid the pain.

Pain and nodule: Usually these are very painful, sudden onset. Also typically associate with a pea sized lump near then anus. See your primary care, or a general or colorectal surgeon for an exam to be sure.
