Could be PVCs...: Premature ventricular contractions (pvcs) are common. For some reason (sometimes fatigue, stress, coffee), we have an early heartbeat. Then, rather than beat again at the usual interval, the heart waits for the next "scheduled" beat. This gives the heart time to fill up with more blood - creating a beat that pumps more blood than usual. Can feel like your heart's thumping, or flipping over!

Common: Pvcs are common. Some people may have a few a day while others may have thousands. Many people have no awareness while others feel every one of them. Most often they are benign. If you are experiencing symptoms it may be worth checking with your doctor. Some non-invasive studies may put your mind at ease.
