A member asked:

For dr's that treat ms. planning a very stressful trip, would it be good to proactively ask for iv steroids to help halt any issues?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Would not advise: Hard to ever fully predict whether or not an ms patient is destined to have a relapse, and stress could promote problems. Best approach is to be taking a very potent drug which could add to the odds of avoiding a relapse. The two most potent agents on the market now are tysabri (natalizumab) and gilenya, and soon to arrive will be bg-12. Do you take vitamin d-3 5000 units twice daily? It too helps!
