If you are a virgin: U do not need a speculum exam unless you are having a problem, like an abnormal discharge, if u have period problems your gyn can do an abdominal ultrasound to check the uterus and ovaries, if you want, the gyn can do a minor surgical procedure to open your hymen so it will not hurt or bleed the 1st time you have intercourse whenever that will be.

It may be stressful: Cervical dysplasia, what look for by pap, is only relevant in the presence of a sexually transmitted virus, hpv. Though recommended to get a pap at 21, you may kindly decline the speculum and pap. They will want 2 check your organs by hand exam;no symptoms, unlikely to find a problem there either.Tell doctor the situation and decline speculum if stressed; we don't want 1st vist 2 b too stressful.
