My ears and throat have been extremely itchy for the last couple of weeks! my gp gave me some penicillin and it has not cleared up. what could it be?

Yeast?: I would wonder about the possibility of a yeast infection. Viral infection would also be possible and wouldn't respond to penicillin. I have seen staph infection in the throat also, and it wouldn't necessarily respond to penicillin. There are probably other possibilities too.
