Cold weather blues: Your daughter may have two separate conditions. Her knees may be affected by osgood schlatter disease which may be caused by vasoconstricton of the small blood vessels supplying the knees. The pain in her hands may be ray aid phenomenon which is also caused by vasoconstriction of the blood vessels due to the cold. Warm mittens and heavy knee socks may be helpful.

Visit your Peds doc: It's time to visit your doctor's office. She might have a systemic collagen disease.
