Laser and cryo: If a detachment is new, it should be treated by a fellowship trained retinal specialist who can provide you options. In general, we use laser and sometimes cryo (freezing) to barricade off detachments and prevent them from progressing. A gas bubble is used for tamponade or holding the retina in place. Good luck.
