White stains: White stains are areas of decalcified enamel. These spots occur when plaque is not properly cleaned away from the teeth. Braces make hygiene more difficult, but not impossible. If you have worked hard to keep your teeth clean by brushing and flossing you will not have white spots. If you have slacked off, don't be surprised if you do.

Maybe?: Are you brushing your teeth and gums properly? Do you have gooey plaque around your braces? Your orthodontist, i'm sure is keeping you apprised of your hygiene. If they are worried about you, then you should be worried as well. Brush and floss around your braces 2-3x/day. Fluoride is a great way to make up for not so good brushing habits.

Ask orthodontist: If you have kept your braces and teeth meticulously clean, returned to your dentist for regular cleaning and check-ups, have avoided acidic soft drinks and beverages, then the odds are low you will have stains. Ask your orthodontic specialist at your next appointment as most often they can see stains forming ahead of time.

Likely not: If you have not had oral hygene issues during treatment you should be fine.

Maybe: White stains, or decalcification, is a result of poor oral hygiene during orthodontic treatment. If you kept your teeth clean during your therapy, your teeth should look great when the braces are removed.

Up to you: If you keep teeth immaculately clean next to the braces, if you don't partially loosen the braces by eating hard/sticky/chewy foods, you should be just fine. Ask your Orthodontic Specialist to review your Oral Hygiene. See your General Dentist at least 2x/year for professional cleaning. Use fluoridated toothpaste, and whatever else your Orthodontist recommends. It's up to you.
